Thirteenth Station Jesus is taken down from the cross (B)

Basilica of St. Patrick’s Purgatory, Pettigo, Lough Derg, Donegal..   Number of Lights 1 ,  Window: 14 Date 1929

Matthias is depicted holding the thirteenth station (Duffy: 2002). The inner medallion shows Jesus’ body being laid in the tomb. A quiet sadness settles over the group that includes Mary, Mary Magdalene, Saint John and Simon.
